Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month (MUAM)
Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month (MUAM) is held annually in October to create awareness of the role sonographers play in the medical community and to educate the public about medical ultrasound.
Did you know that Medical Ultrasound is used to diagnose many medical disorders? Everyone knows ultrasound is famous for its use in scanning unborn babies but it is involved in much much more too! This includes the assessment of some types of Cancer, liver disease, looking at muscles and tendons, diagnosing blood clots (DVT’s), problems with wombs , ovaries and testicles, troublesome gallstones and many more conditions from your head to your toes!
