Physics & Safety Group Recruitment
17th Oct 2024
BMUS members are invited to apply for membership to the Physics & Safety group.
This is a really exciting time to join the team! There have been recent advancements in ultrasound scanner technologies, methods of imaging, the proliferation of ultrasound into many clinical specialities, and the introduction of therapeutic ultrasound in the clinic. We are looking to expand our membership and, as such, we are looking to appoint two to three new members. We are looking for one enthusiastic Radiologist, one Neonatologist, and a third scientist, sonographer or clinician working in any speciality using ultrasound who has an interest in ultrasound physics and patient safety. Group members are expected to attend three virtual meetings a year. If you would like further information on the role itself, please contact Prashant Verma at Prashant.verma@nhs.net.
BMUS formed this group in 1998 to help promote the safe use of Medical Ultrasound. The aim of the group is to develop ultrasound safety guidelines and advise ultrasound practitioners on developments in the physics and technology of ultrasound. The group has regularly published guidance on ultrasound - in particular its guidance on ultrasound safety is internationally recognised. The membership of the committee consists of a mix of scientists, sonographers and medical practitioners. The group holds three meetings a year, and works closely with the BMUS Science and Education committee to ensure that all BMUS publications on physics and safety are of the highest quality. Group members also work closely with other international ultrasound safety groups, including the European Federation on the Safety of Ultrasound in Medicine and the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
To apply for the position please send a 1 page expression of interest to tracey@bmus.org by the 15th November.
