BMUS Welcome Reception

Wednesday 7th December at 17.00 

The BMUS Welcome Reception is complimentary to all delegates attending Day 1 of Ultrasound 2016.  Why not join the BMUS team and browse the Technical Exhibition at leisure, enjoy a glass of wine, mingle and meet old friends, view the poster presentations and discuss the day’s highlights with fellow delegates.

 

BMUS Annual Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony

Thursday 8th December from 19.30 till late

The highlight of the Annual Meeting - this year our Conference Annual Dinner & Awards Ceremony will be held at the National Railway Museum, York.

19.30 : BMUS Pre-Dinner Drinks Reception 

 An opportunity to mingle with other delegates over a glass of wine while stepping back in time, immersing in the fascinating collection spanning a century of railway history. From the global fame of the Flying Scotsman, to the romance of Brief Encounter and the splendour of the Orient Express - trains have transported, inspired and entertained us for hundreds of year.  BMUS are pleased to bring the Annual Dinner to this unique and fascinating venue.

20.00 : BMUS Annual Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony 

Our Guests will then relocate to The Station Hall for the remainder of the evening - where they will experience a bygone era, dine amidst luxurious carriages and historic locomotives set against the backdrop of a period station. Iconic collections such as the prestigious royal "Palaces on Wheels" (including a carriage used by Queen Victoria herself) will provide a unique dining experience.

The evening’s festivities will take on a 'Night Train to Vegas' theme and includes a three course deluxe menu, magician, showgirls, Elvis show, Vegas-style Cirque Du Soleil show including acrobatics and stage illusions, fun casino tables, DJ & disco.

During dinner the 2016 Awards Ceremony will be held, and presentations to the winners of the following prizes will be announced

  • Ultrasound 2016 Scientific Poster Session Prize & Runner Up

  • Winner of BMUS Young Investigator 2016 – earlier in the day, 5 young investigators will have presented their work - the winning presentation will receive the prize of representing BMUS at Euroson 2017 in Antalya, Turkey.

  • Ultrasound 2016 Best Case Reports – a case report from each specialty represented at this year’s meeting will receive a prize

  • Best Paper written by a Postgraduate Student published in the Ultrasound Journal during 2016

  • The 2016 Paul Allan Ultrasound Best Published Paper Prize

  •  Presidential Inauguration of Dr Simon Freeman as BMUS President for 2017 / 2018
